What are nicotine pouches?

Nicotine pouches are small, tobacco-free pouches that sit under your upper lip. Each one contains nicotine, plant fibre, water and food-grade flavouring — there is no tobacco leaf in them, and nothing to smoke, chew or spit.

They come in sealed cans, usually 20 pouches per can, in strengths from around 4mg to 16mg of nicotine per pouch. Every listing on this site shows the strength per pouch, the flavour and the live stock count.

They are intended for adults aged 18 and over who already use nicotine. Nicotine is addictive, and no nicotine product is risk-free — if you don't already use nicotine, there is no reason to start.

How do nicotine pouches work?

You place a pouch between your upper lip and gum and leave it there. The nicotine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth — most people feel a slight tingling at first, which is normal and fades as the pouch settles.

A pouch stays under the lip for roughly 20 to 60 minutes. The flavour usually peaks in the first 10 to 15 minutes, then fades gradually. When it's spent, lift the pouch out and bin it — most cans have a compartment in the lid for used pouches.

There's no smoking, vapour or spit involved, which is why pouches are used indoors, at work and on journeys where cigarettes and vapes aren't an option.

How many nicotine pouches can you use a day?

There is no official UK daily limit, but most adult users get through somewhere between 5 and 15 pouches a day — and the right number depends heavily on strength. A 4mg pouch is not the same as a 16mg one; the stronger the pouch, the fewer you should need.

Follow the guidance on the can, stick to a strength that suits you, and cut back if you feel dizzy, queasy or get headaches — those are signs you've had more nicotine than you need.

If you're moving up from a lower strength, give your body a day or two at each level before going higher. And remember each can's strength is per pouch, not per can — a 20-pouch can at 8mg is 20 doses of 8mg.

Do nicotine pouches expire?

Every can carries a best-before date, typically around 12 months from production. Pouches don't become unsafe after that date, but they do dry out — losing moisture, flavour and some of their nicotine delivery along the way.

To keep them at their best, keep the can sealed when you're not using it and store it somewhere cool and dry. A pocket or cupboard is fine; a hot car or a sunny windowsill is not. No refrigeration is needed.

Because we hold all stock in our own UK warehouse and turn it over quickly, the cans we send out are well inside their best-before dates.
